Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper still found a way to have some drinking fun during their âNew Yearâs Eve Liveâ special this year.
Despite CNN banning them from consuming booze Saturday night, the two downed non-alcoholic mystery shots to ring in 2023.
The longtime pals addressed âthe elephant in the roomâ during the live broadcast, assuring viewers that there would still be something drinking-related at the top of every hour.
At one point, Cohen, 54, hilariously yelled to producers that he âneeds tequilaâ after they gave he and his co-host, 55, shots of pickle juice, apple cider vinegar and buttermilk.
The duo wore glasses so they couldnât see the contents of the glass.
âWe will take the shot, and then we will guess what it was,â Cohen explained, with Cooper saying, âHonestly, this is no different to me because alcohol, to me, all tastes disgusting.â
The epic moment followed Cohenâs infamous alcohol-infused rant last year, in which he hilariously took down ex-New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and called Ryan Seacrest’s production and staff a âbunch of losers.â
The Bravo exec previously told Page Six he wouldnât be drinking this year after CNN banned its contributors from doing so as a result of his on-air behavior.
âWe arenât drinking, but weâre going to have a BLAST,â he told us exclusively, clarifying the comments he gave to Rolling Stone more than a month ago about imbibing during the broadcast.
âCNN said the correspondents will not be drinking,â he told the outlet at the time. âAnderson and I will be the people partying on CNN [though] we will be partying responsibly.â
The TV personality even joked that he would âtorch the placeâ and then âhead outâ back to his home base at Bravo shortly after the ball drops.
âMy job is to be a party ringleader for everyone watching us on New Yearâs Eve,â he added. âAnd that is what I will continue to do.â
