With sub-zero temperatures over the Christmas season, a hot drink can often hit the spot.
Some people will have to work on Christmas Eve and Day and will be grateful to have a caffeine fix within easy reach. Others might want an excuse to stretch their legs and go out to buy an eggnog latte.
Many coffee stores and fast-food restaurants are closed for Christmas, as it is a federal holiday, but fortunately for some, Starbucks will remain open.
Select Starbucks will be open on Christmas Eve and Day, but not every café. Many will be operating at reduced hours.

Since November 3, Starbucks has been serving a variety of seasonal festive drinks, including Peppermint Mocha, Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha, Peppermint Hot Chocolate, Caramel Brulée Latte, Chestnut Praline Latte, Toasted White Hot Chocolate, Toasted White Chocolate Mocha and Irish Cream Cold Brew. A non-dairy Iced Sugar Cookie Almondmilk Latte is also available.
The chain is also offering festive treats, including the new Chocolate Pistachio Swirl, as well as the returning Reindeer Cake Pop, Sugar Plum Cheese Danish, Cranberry Bliss Bar and Snowman Cookie.
The red and green festive coffee cups have been making a comeback, as well as the white cups with green and red Christmas trees and baubles.
What Stores and Restaurants Are Open Over Christmas?
If you need something other than coffee, there are plenty of restaurants and stores open over Christmas.
Many pharmacies, including CVS and Walgreens, will be open over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but hours will depend on the store. Some stores will even be open 24 hours.
As far as groceries are concerned, Walmart will be closed on Christmas Day. However, the grocery store will be open between 12 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Costco warehouses will also be open on Christmas Eve, but closed the following day. Aldi will also be closed on Christmas Day.
Although they are operating on reduced hours, most Albertsons stores are open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Kroger is open on Christmas Eve, generally from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., but hours will vary depending on location. Kroger won’t be open on Christmas Day, so you will have to look for alternatives.
Many restaurants will stay open but on reduced hours, including Applebee’s, Boston Market, Buffalo Wild Wings and Burger King.
Some McDonald’s locations will also be open, but the fast-food chain advises customers to use the restaurant locator or call ahead to find out specific hours for your location.
