2022 is coming to an end, and that means one thing: Time to celebrate a year of reading! Over at the Book Review, we’ve already announced our 10 Best Books of 2022 and our 100 Notables list; this week, our genre columnists are sharing their best-of-the-year lists. Now we want to hear from you.

We want to know: What book was your favorite read of 2022?

We’re not necessarily looking for the best newly published book — we want to know what book, new or old, delighted you, was meaningful to you, brought you closer to someone, made you think differently or shaped your literary life in 2022.

(For example, I have been digging into James Baldwin, Toni Morrison and Jane Austen this year. I had never read Baldwin’s “The Devil Finds Work,” which reflects on movies as a way to examine race in America, and I completely loved it.)

Share with us below one book, new or old, that you read and loved this year, and tell us why you loved it. We may include your submission in a live audio conversation on Twitter Spaces about the year in reading, hosted on Friday, Dec. 16, and in an upcoming article in The New York Times.

We can’t wait to hear about your favorite reads!
