Things are looking a bit worrisome for Al Roker as the longtime Today Show weatherman was reportedly rushed back to the hospital amidst ongoing health issues — only one day after missing his first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 27 years.
Roker had previously alerted fans of his condition after many questioned why he had been missing from The Today Show for so long. In an Instagram post, Roker revealed he was being treated for a blot clot in his leg which had “sent some clots” into his lungs, but assured them that he was “on the way to recovery.”
According to Page Six sources, Roker was taken back to the hospital on Friday, Nov. 25, via ambulance just one day after he was released. One witness saw his wife, ABC News journalist Deborah Roberts, attempting to break through the window of their car with the help of a neighbor so she could retrieve her cell phone and accompany him to the hospital.
Another witness told the outlet, “Al was taken from his home in a stretcher back to the hospital on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. His condition was worrying, but once back in the hospital he improved.”
They continued, “His wife, Deborah, was understandably very upset. She had left her phone and other possessions inside their Tesla, which had malfunctioned and wouldn’t unlock, so she was trying to smash in a window.”
While her attempts to break into the car were unsuccessful, the outlet reports that she ended up taking a taxi to the hospital, where Roker has been “surrounded by his family” ever since he was admitted.
The news of his hospitalization comes just one week after Roker was replaced by Dylan Dreyer at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade — his first time being absent in nearly 30 years. It was also announced earlier today that he would miss tonight’s Rockefeller Christmas Tree lighting.
Hopefully the cheery weatherman will be back on our screens soon, but in the meantime, we wish him a speedy recovery.
