Jay Leno was back to doing the things he likes days after being discharged from a burn center.
On Saturday, the 72-year-old TV personality was photographed as he indulged in his love for retro cars by taking one of his favorite rides, a vintage Bentley, out for a spin in Los Angeles.
In one snap exclusively shared by Daily Mail, Leno was seen approaching his vehicle. In the follow-up photo, he was inside the car and ready to drive through L.A. traffic.
Another image released by the outlet showed Leno placing his right hand over his mouth while driving. Some burns were visible on his fingers in the picture.
It’s no secret that the former late-night talk-show host loves his impressive car collection, which includes more than 180 exotic cars and hypercars. He’s even back to checking in on his favorite vehicles in his garage after the shocking incident that caused him to sustain permanent damage from “serious” burn injuries.
Earlier this month, one of his cars inside his L.A. garage burst into flames while he was working on it. He was taken to the Grossman Burn Center in West Hills for treatment.
At the time, he issued a statement to Variety, saying he “got some serious burns from a gasoline fire.” However, he maintained that he was OK and would get back on his feet a week or two later.
Dr. Peter Grossman, the director of the burn center, previously said that Leno had sustained “significant injuries” from the accident but that he was doing well.
“He’s got a very strong attitude. He’s a very strong individual. And he’s a person who really is looking to move forward, to try to find a way to get past this episode of his life and entertain and be with the people,” the doctor added.
On Monday, the former “Tonight Show” host was discharged from the hospital after staying there for nearly 10 days. He even posed for photos with staff members before exiting the facility.
“After a 10-day stay at the facility, Jay will receive follow-up care at the Grossman Outpatient Burn Clinic for burns to his face, chest and hands he received during a fire at his home garage,” the hospital said in a news release. “He is looking forward to spending Thanksgiving with his family and friends and wishes everyone a wonderful holiday.”
In the photos shared by the staff members on Twitter, Leno visibly had scars on his chin and hands from the fire.
