Wordle has become a global phenomenon since it was first released to the public in October last year.

Part of Wordle’s success is its simplicity, which means anyone can quickly pick up and play the game.

The game tasks players with working out a five-letter word in six attempts or fewer using a color-coded system.

A green tile means the letter is correct and in the right place, a yellow one indicates the letter is correct but in the wrong place, while a gray square means the letter is not in the word at all.

Despite the simple nature of the game, Wordle creator Josh Wardle previously told Newsweek that he still finds it to be a challenge.

He said: “Well, I did create Wordle and I’m not very good at it, so there’s your answer. I’m afraid I’m not really the best.

“[My partner] and I play it on the couch together each morning. She will consistently get it in three goes, which is way, way better than I can ever hope to achieve. I normally need at least four or five attempts.”

Wordle‘s popularity has inspired the creation of several other online games with their own niche, including the map-based Worldle.

Wardle’s game was sold to the New York Times for an undisclosed seven-figure sum in January, although it remains free to play.

The answer to today’s puzzle will be revealed at the end of this article, so scroll down carefully if you do not want to see the answer too soon.
