Newly released video shows the horrific wrong-way crash in Miami that killed five friends — including an NYU-bound artist — last month.
The footage, released by prosecutors, captures driver Maiky Simeon careening down the Palmetto Expressway at 4:30 a.m. Aug. 20 before smashing into the victims’ vehicle.
Simeon has since been charged with five counts of DUI vehicular manslaughter.
The footage shows the victims’ car coming to a rest as other drivers slow down to observe the aftermath of the early-morning crash before continuing on.
The video also includes a shocked witness who had been sitting in a golf cart in a nearby auto dealership walk toward the wreck before making a call on a cell phone.
Prosecutors released several other clips of Simeon driving against traffic at various locations.
He pleaded not guilty to the upgraded charges against him Monday, as prosecutors revealed he registered a blood-alcohol level two times over the legal limit after the crash.
He remains behind bars without bail.
Briana Pacalagua, Daniela Marcano, Giancarlos Arias, Valeria Pena, and Valeria Caceres all perished in the crash.
Arias was reportedly set to move north to attend New York University in Manhattan, and the group was out celebrating his achievement together.
NBC 6 reported that Simeon was going 80 mph before the crash and that he had been driving the wrong way for at least a mile.
“The defendant drove in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons by driving the wrong way at a high rate of speed and never attempted to take any evasive actions to avoid the crash,” according to an arrest report.
