The Wordle answer for Friday, August 26 could elude even the best puzzle players if your first few guesses are not as revealing as you would like.
Thankfully, Newsweek is here to provide a helping hand and give you the tips and tricks to ensure that current streak remains unbroken.
Wordle requires players to solve the popular puzzle by guessing a five-letter word in six tries or fewer.
The game refreshes each day, with a new word needing to be worked out using color-coded clues.
A green tile indicates the letter is in the correct position, while a yellow tile means the letter is in the word but in the wrong place. A gray tile means the letter is not in the word at all.
In October 2021 the game created by Josh Wardle had only 90 users. By January 2022, it had 300,000 daily users and has recently been reported to have had a peak of around 45 million unique users a month hoping to correctly crack the daily brain teaser.
Wardle eventually sold the game to the New York Times Company for an undisclosed seven-figure sum. In an interview with Time soon after, Wardle explained that he never intended to make money off the game when he first created it.
Wordle has really become a whole new genre over the past couple of months and the appetite for it doesn’t appear to be waning.
In addition to the more blatant clones and imitators, there’s also the math guessing game Nerdle and a geography-themed variant called Worldle (not to mention a separate crossword for Swifties that is clunkily entitled Taylordle).
Whatever your game plan for the addictive puzzle, now and again we could all do with a hint. Check out below for some tips that can help you solve today’s game.
