A video showcasing Jamie Foxx’s impression of Donald Trump has gone viral on Twitter with viewers hailing it as the best impersonation they’ve seen yet of the former president.
Trump impressions became a regular fixture across television and social media throughout his presidency and beyond with the likes of Alec Baldwin, Dana Carvey and James Austin Johnson all turning their hand to mimicking the ex-POTUS.
However, there is a growing consensus online this week that Jamie Foxx may be the best Trump impersonator of them all after a clip surfaced showcasing the actor and comedian’s scarily good take on the former Apprentice star.
Foxx unleashed the impression during an interview with The Rap Radar Podcast conducted alongside rapper Snoop Dogg to promote the pair’s new Netflix movie Day Shift. It can be watched here.
During the 56-second clip, Foxx not only unleashes a pitch-perfect Trump impression but also finds time to poke fun at the former president’s response to the violent protests in Charlottesville, Virginia, back in 2017 when he told reporters there were “very fine people on both sides.”
The clip also sees Foxx lampoon Trump’s response during a 2015 Bloomberg interview where he was asked to name his favorite verse from the Bible. He also appeared to mock Trump’s stance on the COVID-19 pandemic.
Foxx’s response had both Snoop Dogg along with co-hosts Elliott Wilson and Brian ‘B.Dot’ Miller in stitches. Wilson later shared footage of the impersonation to Twitter with an identical clip also posted to the platform by DailyLoud.
At the time of writing, the two videos have been watched a combined 3.7 million times with viewers flocking to praise what most considered the best Trump impersonation yet.
Chase Schleich said it was “literally the best Trump impression I’ve ever heard” with Senjutsusage writing: “If I didn’t see it was Jamie Foxx I would have believed it was actually Trump.”
Jim Weber commented: “If there was no video, I’d be 100% convinced that was Trump’s actual voice” while hybridmink confessed they “did not expect this to be so perfect.”
Louis Bernard said: “This is uncanny” with AuthenticBred replying: “The Trump era in 1 minute…amazing.” Sandra Bowman admitted she “Almost thought Trump was in the room” while Pkasinger2 said: “Jamie Foxx should play the Trump role on SNL.”
“It’s unbelievable,” IAmHarmony said. “It’s the best impression of Trump EVER… and he does it so effortlessly. What a talented man he is.”
A singer as well as an actor and comedian, Foxx is known for his impressive array of impersonations with other favorites including Mike Tyson, Stevie Wonder and Jay-Z. For many fans, though, this was the best yet.
Newsweek has contacted Wilson for comment.
Day Shift is available to watch on Netflix now.
