There’s nothing to see here â or at least that’s what it’s looking like following weeks of speculated drama at the Today Show. Despite the rumors that co-anchors Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb don’t get along, the latter took to social media to clear the air.
Kotb posted a photo to Instagram of the two women embracing with the caption, “Just because– and thank you!!! It was absolutely perfect !! Xoxoox.”
In the comments section, Guthrie wrote, “Love you the mostest,” adding the heart eyes emoji to the end.
Aside from the birthday tribute Guthrie put on Instagram last week for her co-anchor, which read, “She is our sunshine. Happy birthday, @hodakotb,” she also took to the platform yesterday (Aug. 16) to post several photos of the two seemingly having a great time during their hosting gigs.
If the social media love fest isn’t enough to convince you, a Today Show insider told Good Housekeeping that everything is just fine between the two.
“It’s unfortunate to see and hear rumors that are not based in reality,” they said. “However, it’s not bothersome because we have the truth on our side. Savannah and Hoda have blazed a trail by supporting one another and other women. It’s disappointing that a manufactured ‘feud’ is what generates clickbait instead of their achievements.”
Viewers and critics have been drumming up rumors about a feud for weeks now, and things only got worse when Guthrie accidentally overslept and showed up to work 15 minutes before going live during the Aug. 11 taping.
Though the show’s spokesperson denied this theory, one “TV Insider” told Page Six Guthrie purposefully showed up late, claiming, “She is showing them who is the boss and that they canât do the show without her.”
Another added that there is an “underlying competitiveness” between the duo, making it hard to “pretend to be friends.”
So what do we think: is their friendship all PR? Or have the rumors finally been put to bed?
