Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert‘s neighbors called 911 to report a confrontation with the controversial congresswoman’s husband, according to reports.
A neighbor said “all hell broke loose” on the evening of August 4, after another neighbor had asked one of Boebert’s sons to stop speeding on their residential street in a dune buggy, according to 911 calls obtained by The Denver Post.
A woman called 911 to report that the boy had “cussed” at neighbors and left when they told him to slow down.
Deputies had not reached the scene when a second neighbor called 911 to report that Boebert’s husband, Jayson Boebert, was running over his mailbox.
The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office told the Post that deputies decided to let the neighbors resolve the dispute among themselves. A spokesperson refused to clarify why deputies did not investigate further considering the content of the 911 calls, according to the newspaper.
American Muckrackers PAC, which is seeking to oust Boebert from office, has accused the sheriff’s office of covering up the Boebert family’s involvement in the disturbance, and called for an investigation into the relationship between the Boeberts and the sheriff’s office.
Boebert’s office, the sheriff’s office and American Muckrackers have been contacted for comment.
Here, Newsweek has rounded up some key moments from the 911 calls:
‘He’s going like 50 miles an hour’
Both neighbors who called 911 alleged that one of Boebert’s sons was speeding down their residential street in a dune buggy.
“You know those dune buggy things everybody’s driving now? He’s just speeding up and down the road, all over the place, just frickin’ through his property,” a woman is heard saying during one call.
“He’s going 50 miles an hour and this is a residential lane, there’s kids…We tried to stop him and he just freakin’ cussed at us and just left.”
‘He’s running over my mailbox right now’
“There’s a domestic situation happening right in front of my driveway,” a male neighbor told 911.
“It’s Lauren Boebert’s jacka** husband, Jayson… he’s running over my mailbox right now.”
Seconds later, the neighbor can be heard yelling, apparently at Jayson Boebert.
“Stop, you jacka**! Get the f*** out of here,” he shouted. “Come on, man. What are you doing? What did we do wrong? I live here.”
‘Tries to claim somebody took a swing at his kid’
The same neighbor told the 911 dispatcher that Jayson Boebert accused neighbors of taking “a swing at his kid.”
The boy “told my neighbor to f*** off when he came out to tell him to slow down,” the man said.
“The next thing we know is dad Jayson comes down here trying to claim that somebody took a swing at his kid and nobody did.”
He described Jayson Boebert as “dumb as a post,” “irrational” and said he was “probably drunk.”
“He just got chest to chest, face to face, looking to fight and we’re talking about everybody in the neighborhood,” the neighbor added.
‘They all have guns’
The male neighbor also told 911 that the Boeberts “all have guns.”
“I’m sure he’s loaded to the hilt. Do you know who his wife is? Lauren Boebert. She’s loaded. They all have guns,” he said.
