Legendary game show Password is returning to NBC for a brand new season.

The quiz program first aired back in 1961 with Allen Ludden as host but the format has recently been revived as a segment on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Now, following its success on The Tonight Show, Password is once again getting a full season of its own. The new episodes will star late night host Jimmy Fallon and be hosted by Nope actress Keke Palmer.

Each week there will also be a different celebrity friend who will play alongside Fallon with the hopes of helping the contestants win a cash prize.

So when does the new season of Password start? Which celebrities will be taking part? Newsweek has everything you need to know about the new season of Password on NBC.

What Is Password?

Password is a game show that sees players from different teams guess secret passwords using only one-word clues for a chance to win up to $25,000.

NBC has revealed that on the new season, Palmer will command the Password podium as host, while contestants will be partnered with Fallon and a celebrity guest to face off in the “ultimate game of words.”

In each of the hour-long episodes, a celebrity and Fallon will pair up with contestants over two games.

The premiere episode of Password will be dedicated to Golden Girls actress Betty White, who passed away on December 31, 2021 shortly before her 100th birthday.

White regularly played Password on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and, according to NBC, the iconic TV star has long been thought of as Password‘s greatest player.

As well as having celebrity guests throughout the season, Password‘s season finale will culminate with a special episode featuring a star-studded, all-celebrity lineup playing for charity.

Who Is Taking Part in Password?

Several celebrities have already been confirmed for the new season of Password.

The first episode will see Mad Men actor Jon Hamm team up with the contestants, while America’s Got Talent and Making the Cut star Heidi Klum will feature on Episode 2.

Other celebrities who will appear include Community actress Yvette Nicole Brown, who is part of the voice of cast of new Disney+ film LEGO Star Wars: Summer Vacation, Arrested Development‘s Tony Hale and comedian Chelsea Handler.

Celebrity Beef host Joel McHale, This Is Us‘ Chrissy Metz, Only Murders In the Building actor Martin Short, Spider-Man star J.B. Smoove, and singer Meghan Trainor have also been announced.

When Is Password On?

Password will launch on NBC with a two-night series premiere event on Tuesday, August 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT and Wednesday, August 10 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
