It doesn’t sound like Elon Musk is stopping at 10 children.
“Bravo to big families,” Musk, 51, says.
When asked how many kids he would like to have, he tells us, “As many as I am able to spend time with and be a good father.”
Musk, who has said he is concerned about declining birth rates, shares that he enjoys having kids who are at different stages in life — especially with his older ones growing up so fast.
“My eldest are off to college, and teenagers don’t want to spend much time with their parents. I wish they would,” he says with a sigh.
The SpaceX founder’s brood includes twins Griffin and Vivian, who were born in 2004, and triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian, who arrived in 2006, with his ex-wife Justine Musk.
His ex-girlfriend, singer Grimes, gave birth to their first child together, the amazingly named X AE A-XII, in May 2020. Their daughter, Exa, arrived via surrogate in December 2021. Exa revealed her existence when she started crying while Grimes was being interviewed for Vanity Fair.
Elon and Justine also had a son named Nevada, born in 2002, but he died at 10 weeks old of sudden infant death syndrome, or SIDS.
Elon, while verbose on Twitter, tends to keep his personal life private.
News broke Wednesday that he welcomed twins with Zilis, 36, in November 2021 after they filed court documents requesting the infants’ names be changed to “have their father’s last name and contain their mother’s last name as part of their middle name.”
Elon confirmed Insider’s report by tweeting Thursday, “Doing my best to help the underpopulation crisis. A collapsing birth rate is the biggest danger civilization faces by far. Mark my words, they are sadly true.”
He also has a tweet pinned of a graph from the Wall Street Journal of the “fertility slump.”
During the June 2016 Code Conference, Elon said his kids make him “the happiest,” adding, “I always try to reserve time for my kids because I love hanging out with them. I mean, kids are really great.”
And he described himself as “a pretty good dad” in the 2015 book “Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future.”
“I have the kids for slightly more than half the week and spend a fair bit of time with them,” Elon shared at the time. “I also take them with me when I go out of town.”
