Katie Couric’s husband, John Molner, was called out for whining on social media about Delta canceling his flight last Friday — the same day that the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
The financier and CEO of Couric’s media company tagged the airline in his post before acknowledging it was “a sad day in our nation.”
Molner, 59, then incongruously ranted about how “Delta Airlines continues its descent toward becoming the worst major US airlines canceling scores of flights daily, stranding passengers for days and holding them hostage to higher fares.”
In the comments section, one gobsmacked follower fumed, “Seriously… How can you compare women losing freedoms to your flight getting canceled? I’ve heard horror stories of your misogynistic ways… Thanks for spelling it out for everyone…. you’re so tone deaf.”
“you seem very unhappy. Good luck dear,” Molner fired back.
Molner did point out that his flight cancellation was “not as bad as rolling back reproductive rights,” but that did not stop followers from continuing to slam what one deemed an “odd” post.
“I appreciate your sentiments on the horrendous ruling… but it seems odd to group it with a complaint about an airline,” another commenter wrote.
Even Couric’s 26-year-old daughter, Carrie, whom she shared with late husband Jay Monahan, encouraged her stepdad to “read the room.”
Meanwhile, another person suggested he “let Katie do the reporting and stick to taking pictures with celebrities.”
One thing Molner does plan to stick to is complaining. He told one follower that despite SCOTUS’ decision on Roe v. Wade, “We can’t … stop complaining about everything just because we’ve lost fundamental reproductive rights for the first time in 50 years.”
