Kate Middleton has some previously unseen photos in head-to-toe military gear that she’d like to share.
In honor of Armed Forces Day on June 25, the Duchess of Cambridge shared photos from her November trip to the Pirbright Training Academy, where she participated in a series of training exercises that involved a bit of dressing up in a lot of camouflage. “Today on Armed Forces Day, William and I would like to pay tribute to the brave men and women, past and present, serving in all of our armed forces, at sea, on land and in the air, here in the UK and around the world,” Middleton wrote in her Instagram post. “Thank you for all you and your families sacrifice to keep us safe.”
She continued, “Last year, I was honoured to spend time with the @BritishArmy to see how they train serving personnel and new recruits. It was wonderful to see first-hand the many important and varied roles the military play day in, day out to protect us all, and I look forward to discovering more about the @RoyalNavy and @RoyalAirForceUK in due course.”
She signed her message, “C,” which stands for Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

Last week, Kate Middleton and Prince William unveiled their first joint royal portrait by renowned English portrait artist Jamie Coreth. In the image, Middleton wears a shimmering green dress and green satin stilettos by Manolo Blahnik, which many believe to be a sartorial tribute to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. Next to his wife, Prince William wears a dark suit and a complimentary green tie.
According to Vanity Fair, Middleton also wears a pearl drop brooch that once belonged to Queen Mary’s mother, Princess Augusta, who became the Duchess of Cambridge in 1818 after marrying Prince Adolphus.

“I wanted to show Their Royal Highnesses in a manner where they appeared both relaxed and approachable, as well as elegant and dignified,” Coreth said, per People. “As it is the first portrait to depict them together, and specifically during their time as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, I wanted the image to evoke a feeling of balance between their public and private lives.”
