The MTV Movie & TV Awards handed out golden popcorn statuettes last night to some of the most iconic, zeitgeist-y films, shows, and performances of the year, including Spider-Man: No Way Home, Euphoria, and Loki.
The awards show, which aired live last night (June 5) from the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles, was hosted by Vanessa Hudgens and, as always, offered memorable moments and award categories not offered at any other ceremony, including Best Hero (Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow) and Best Villain (Daniel Radcliffe in The Lost City), Best Kiss (Poopies and the snake in Jackass Forever), and Best Fight (Cassie and Maddie in Euphoria).
The ceremony also handed out the Comedic Genius Award to Jack Black, and the Generation Award to Jennifer Lopez, both giving a classic MTV spin on the lifetime achievement award. Comedic Genius is a relatively new award, past winners in the category include Sacha Baron Cohen and Melissa McCarthy, while the Generation Award has been given to the likes of Tom Cruise, Jim Carrey, andThe Fast and The Furious franchise.
A second awards show, the Movie & TV Awards: UNSCRIPTED, also aired last night, directly after the main event. Honoring the best in reality, documentary, and other unscripted content, that special was hosted by Tayshia Adams and handed out awards to Selling Sunset and it’s star, Chrishell Stause, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and honored Bethenny Frankel with a “Reality Royalty” Award.
