Congresswoman Lauren Boebert attempted to mock President Joe Biden over gas prices on Tuesday in a clip that has started to go viral on social media.

While speaking to Fox News‘ Jesse Watters, the Colorado Republican questioned whether Biden was running America, or whether it was Prince John of the Robin Hood legend, who was known for levying high taxes on the people of England.

The clip has so far been viewed over 1.2 million times on Twitter. Despite Boebert’s attempt at ridicule, some viewers took to mocking Boebert in the comment section for her stuttering answer.

“I don’t know who is running the federal government these days, Joe Biden or Prince John, from…,” Boebert said, appearing to momentarily forget “Robin Hood”.

She stuttered and continued: “But they are taxing us into poverty.

“Look, gas prices are higher than Jerry Nadler‘s pants right now and the federal government is making it worse with their 18 cents per gallon tax and additional regulations like the ethanol mandate that adds nearly 20 cents per gallon of gas,” she said, referring to the New York congressman who is famous for his high-waisted trousers.

“People are going to have to start calling [financial services firm] JG Wentworth just to get a loan to fill up the tank, Jesse,” she added.

Gas prices have risen sharply since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24. The ban on Russian oil imports, announced by Biden on Tuesday, could drive gas prices even higher, experts say.

The national average gas price on Tuesday was nearly 72 cents above the average price recorded in early February and about 55 cents above the average price recorded one week ago, according to American Automobile Association (AAA) data.

This has resulted in the U.S. breaking the national record set nearly 14 years ago for the average cost of a gallon of regular unleaded gas.

While speaking on Fox News, Boebert also mocked Biden for his inability to speak to leaders of Middle Eastern oil-producing countries about raising their output to contain the surge in U.S. gas prices.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates both declined U.S. requests to speak to Biden in recent weeks, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Saudi officials say their relationship with the U.S. has deteriorated since the Biden administration took over. They want more U.S. support for their intervention in the civil war in Yemen and help with their civilian nuclear program, the Journal reported.

“Maybe Biden needs to send a text, did they send him to voicemail? What happened there?” Boebert said.

“International leaders want to talk to someone who is really in charge, not the guy with the ice cream.

“What is really sad is this is the cost of the Afghanistan surrender. When Biden started taking orders from terrorists, world leaders saw that.

“Now our entire country is suffering the humiliation from that failure.

“Maybe Biden needs to get on Telegram, Snapchat, Signal, something [because] that message has got to get across.”

Newsweek has contacted Lauren Boebert for comment.
