The very first Oreo cookie was made in 1912, and has become one of the most popular brands of mass-produced cookies in the U.S.
The Oreo celebrates its 110th birthday on March 6 and to celebrate, Oreo announced the release of a limited-edition Birthday Chocolate Confetti Cake flavor, which is available for pre-sale on the brand’s official website and will be available at stores on Jan. 31.
The presale price is $4.50 per pack.

In 1912, the very first Oreo cookie was offered at Chelsea Market in Manhattan. By 1923, the very first ad featuring the classic Oreo “twist, lick, and dunk” into a glass of milk was advertised on trolley cars. The cookie would not go international until 1928, still in its classic form.
The cookie has taken on many variations in recent years. Oreo “Mega Stuf” was introduced in 2013, then “Oreo Thins” in 2015. The “Most Stuf” Oreo, including even more of that famous cream filling, came out in 2019.
The company is now owned by Mondelez International, which also owns other brands like Chips Ahoy. Since it started, Oreo has produced various products and flavors, even gluten-free versions, all based on the original concept in 1912.

I think it’s important to admit when you’re wrong. It shows strength of character.Over the years I have been rather outspoken regarding my disdain towards Oreos. I couldn’t understand why they were so popular. And then I tried this. pic.twitter.com/Vk5dneIgsd

I am an #OREO purist and have weathered (over the years) a relentless barrage of every flavor possible, as my 13yo must “try them all” in true #Pokemon style.Today changed all that. The Salted Caramel Brownie Oreos (yes, topped with salt, mind you) are IMO nirvana. _ _ _ pic.twitter.com/30WPf0bNWp
