The team behind the decentralized cryptocurrency Shiba Inu token has teamed up with video game creator and former Activision Vice President for Tech David Volk to develop a new play-to-earn NFT game.
Titled “Oshiverse,” the play-to-earn video game will be the newest addition to the expanding Shiba Inu ecosystem. Shiba Inu project leader Shytoshi Kusama provided the details about the highly anticipated project in a Medium article.
According to Kusama, the game will be available on mobile devices running on iOS and Android. Its features reportedly include Shibarium functionality and decentralized aspects.
“This will provide unique opportunities within the Shiba Inu Ecosystem ($SHIB, $LEASH & $BONE), while Shiba Inu Games remains completely separate from this activity. Moreover, the revenue gained from Shiba Inu Games in-app purchases also provides opportunities for Shib & Leash burns,” Kusama teased in the post.
Unknown to many, Volk serves as the team’s consultant and will also lead the development of Shiba Inu Games. The former Activision executive described “Oshiverse” as a game that will become “one of the most significant games of all time.”
Unfortunately, Shiba Inu had a hard time getting a listing of “Oshiverse” on mobile stores. To secure approval, the brand had to meet requirements that forced it to explore the corporate world and abide by its rules.
However, according to the project lead, there is a silver lining to this move.
“This is a good thing because it allows us to take some of our prized assets and make them defensible.”
Moreover, the completed game will reportedly be “licensed solely to the decentralized team at Shiba Inu for use on Shibarium.”
“They’ll also be able to add various decentralized elements to enhance this mobile version,” Kusama added.
It appears Shiba Inu has a lot of plans for its upcoming play-to-earn game. As the project lead teased, “this is just a teaser of what we have planned.”
Kusama first mentioned “Oshiverse” on Oct. 14. Back then, he was set to meet with a gaming company to have them release the SHIB-based game. The following day, he described the said meeting as “fantastic.”
“Oshiverse” has no release date yet but based on the statements of Volk and Kusama, it looks like the development has already begun.
