Georgia Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene said Wednesday that she would be filing articles of impeachment against President-elect Joe Biden the day following Biden’s expected inauguration.

Greene, a freshman representative, has voiced public support in the past for the conspiracy theories espoused by QAnon. Greene, a strong supporter of outgoing President Donald Trump, voted against the second impeachment of Trump on Wednesday. According to her Twitter feed, Greene plans on attempting to impeach Biden on his first official day in office.

“On January 21, 2021, I’ll be filing Articles of Impeachment against Joe Biden for abuse of power,” Greene tweeted, adding the hashtags, “#ImpeachBiden,” #QuidProJoe” and “BidenCrimeFamilly.”

In a Wednesday interview on conservative media outlet Newsmax, Greene said, “On behalf of the American people, we have to make sure that our leaders are held accountable. We cannot have a President of the United States that is willing to abuse the power of the presidency and be easily bought off by foreign governments, Chinese energy companies, Ukrainian energy companies.”

Newsweek reached out to Greene’s office and Biden’s transition teams for further comment.

“I can’t imagine people in this country being so fearful of the future of a Biden presidency that they may be willing to commit violence like they did in the Capitol here in Washington, D.C.,” Greene added.

This is a breaking story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
