This is the second year Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and Baby Archie are celebrating Christmas away from the royal family, but they’re still getting in the spirit of things.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly went Christmas tree shopping in late November, per People. The outlet has confirmed this story with a Twitter who says they sold the royals their tree.
“Meghan and Prince Harry came into my work today and we sold them their Christmas Tree,” said Twitter user @imaJaaaaaames, according to People. “We had our lot empty when they got there—their agent promoted them a good time to come instead of us shutting it down.”
The couple’s attempt to be low key worked out well—so much so that a young boy mistook the prince for another employee. “There was one family in there and their stoked little son ran through trees up to Harry and asked if he worked here not knowing who that is,” the Twitter user continued.
The employee didn’t share how Markle or Prince Harry responded to the boy’s mistake, but I have a feeling they found it as adorable as the rest of us.
This year’s holiday season will look a bit different for Kate Middleton and Prince William’s family, as well. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis will not be decorating their grandma Carole Middleton’s Christmas tree in person, an ongoing holiday family tradition.
“We may not be able to get together but, after a year like 2020, we need to remember what’s really important this Christmas,” the Middleton matriarch wrote in an Instagram post for her Party Pieces company on November 11. “For me, what really matters is that my family feels connected. I normally let my grandchildren help me decorate the tree. This year I’ll ask them by video call to decide which decoration should go where.”
She joked, “It may need to be tastefully rearranged later…!”
