More details keep coming out about Demi Lovato’s breakup from Max Ehrich.
The couple had a bit of a whirlwind quarantine romance that led to Ehrich proposing to Lovato in July at the beach. All seemed well until stories emerged of a split, which appeared to be amicable at first. “It was a tough decision, but Demi and Max have decided to go their separate ways to focus on their respective careers,” a source initially told People. “They have respect and love for one another and will always cherish the time they spent together.”
But the stories have changed since then. Lovato has not spoken out publicly about the breakup but Ehrich has been claiming he was blindsided by the news and learned about it via a tabloid. Other sources say that is not true.
Now, People is reporting a source close to Lovato as saying, “It was very hurtful to Demi when she realized that Max’s intentions weren’t genuine. Breaking off the engagement was not an easy decision.” It also looks like she’s removed all the photos of Ehrich from her Instagram—and she also posted a message about music being her solace.
She then dropped a new single, “Still Have Me,” on September 30. The ballad is emotional and includes poignant lyrics like, “It feels like someone’s stolen/All the light I ever had” and “Everything around me shattered/All the highs are now just lows/But it doesn’t even matter/’Cause I’d rather be alone.” Listen for yourself, below:
Another source told People Lovato started thinking Ehrich was ″trying to further his career by using her name behind her back.” Yikes, this does not sound good at all. “Demi wants no contact with Max at this point,” a source previously told E! News. “She is completely embarrassed at the way he’s been acting and putting their relationship on blast via social media. She wants nothing to do with him.”
“Demi is completely done and doesn’t want to see him again at this point,” the source also said to E!. “She can’t believe she fell into his trap and is really upset over it.”
Here’s hoping it all settles down soon.
