Johnny Depp allegedly dangled Amber Heard’s tiny dog out of a speeding car window while “howling” — and joked about putting the pooch in a microwave, a London court heard Wednesday.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star was allegedly high on cocaine and whiskey when, during a fight with Heard in March 2013, he turned on her teacup Yorkshire terrier Pistol, attorney Sasha Wass claimed in High Court, according to The Sun.
“When you were in the car, you were smoking and you opened the window and you were angry and you were aggressive… And you took hold of Pistol and you held her out of the window and started making howling noises,” said Wass, the lawyer for The Sun, the newspaper Depp is suing for libel.
The actor, 57, responded: “I can say it is a very endearing image, but it is absolute utter falsity, it is fraudulent.”
The attorney then suggested that Depp found the alleged incident funny, which he denied.
“No ma’am, I don’t think hanging an animal, a small defenseless dog that weighs three pounds out of a window is fun,” Depp said.
At the time, the Hollywood couple were apparently arguing over Depp accusing Heard of having an affair with the artist Tasya van Ree, The Telegraph reported.
Depp was allegedly drinking and getting high, making him late for an appointment with his idol, the Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, who he was directing a documentary about, the newspaper said.
Wass alleged that the enraged actor held Pistol out of the window after Heard and some of Depp’s entourage finally got him into a car to head to the film set.
Later in court, the attorney also claimed Depp had “laughed” at a “running joke” about putting the pup in a microwave, according to The Sun.
“I wouldn’t say that I was the inventor of that particular joke and also I wasn’t the only one who brought anything like that up,” Depp responded in defense.
He was also grilled about an incident in which the dog had “eaten some hash, some cannabis — quite a lot,” according to Wass.
Depp admitted: “The puppy got a hold of a little ball of hashish and just scooped it up before I could get to it.”
Pistol, and the couple’s other dog Boo, made international headlines when Depp and Heard tried to bring them into Australia in 2015 on a private jet — and the country’s agriculture minister threatened to have the pooches put down. The couple subsequently released a bizarre apology video.
Depp is suing The Sun over an April 2018 article that said he was a “wife beater,” which he vehemently denies — accusing his ex-wife of all the violence in their marriage.
The Sun’s defense relies on Heard’s allegations of 14 incidents of violence by Depp between 2013 and 2016.
