Jennifer Aniston was left heartbroken by George Floyd’s death and made a huge donation to Color of Change organization.
The “Friends” alum is one of the many celebrities who supported Blackout Tuesday. Last week, she also posted a black square on Instagram to show the world that she is one with the black community.
According to Halina Watts, Sunday showbiz editor at Daily Mirror, Aniston also made a $1 million donation to Color of Change. The Murder Mystery star did not announce the donation, but shared a link of the organization on her Instagram account.
“My source explains: ‘Like most people, Jen has been deeply affected by what is going on in America and the terrible injustice that people of colour experience every day,’” Watts wrote.
“She wanted to show her support, and has donated a big sum to the charity she felt resonated with her the most. The link is on her Instagram page so her fans can also donate.”
Aniston has already shared her thoughts about racism. She admitted that the issue is a real thing in the U.S.
“This week has been heartbreaking for so many reasons. We need to acknowledge that the racism and brutality in this country has been going on for a long time – and it’s NEVER been okay,” Aniston said.
“As allies, who want equality and peace, it’s our responsibility to make noise, to demand justice, to educate ourselves on these issues, and more than anything, to spread love.”
Meanwhile, Michael Jordan and the Jordan brand also made a $100 million donation to organizations dedicated to fighting racial equality and social justice. The NBA legend said that he was “deeply saddened, truly pained and plain angry” following Floyd’s death.
Selena Gomez also did her part. The “Kill Em with Kindness” singer did not just post a black square on her social account. Instead, she shut her website down.
Furthermore, Gomez also announced that she would let black leaders take over her Instagram account with 178 million followers because “we all need to hear more from Black voices.”
