COMME des GARÇONS HOMME is showing a keen penchant for British heritage. Shortly after unveiling its three-piece SS20 capsule that celebrates the work of photographer Jamie Hawkesworth, the label is already back with a brand new range of garments, doubling down with a full-blown FW20-21 collection. Taken against a crisp ivory backdrop, the collection comes with a lookbook that highlights an expansive array of bespoke silhouettes characterized by clean lines, traditional patterns and understated patchwork.
The assemblage is steeped with old British staples that have been elevated with a contemporary twist: patchwork blazers, striped button-ups, desert beige mac trench coats, knit sweaters, corduroy trousers and light khakis, to name a few. Pieces like the hazel brown patchwork corduroy pants and black pinstripe blazer present a polished take on sartorial classics, enlivening them with meticulous cuts and rustic fabrics for a mature cold-weather palette. More vivid styles like the wave-patterned button-up and checkered coach jacket add bolder colors to the understated lineup, while other garments like the heather-gray quilted varsity jacket and long olive parka demonstrate an affinity for timeless English styles.
