Vanna White had some good news about the health of longtime Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek, who is suffering from pancreatic cancer.
White, the host of Wheel of Fortune said that she has spoken with her 79-year-old and that he was in good spirits.
“He’s doing good. He really is,” White told Us Weekly. “He looks good. I talked to him recently and he’s got a very positive attitude.”
White, 62, said that Trebek has a strong will to fight the disease and appreciates the outpouring of support from fans of the show.
“I love that he’s honest and open with his fans, because he’s been doing the show for a very long time also and feels very connected to all of his fans and viewers,” White continued. “He is definitely keeping everybody updated on how he’s doing, and I am so proud of him. He’s still working, he’s obviously doing chemotherapy but working through it, and has that strong will to, as we say, the show must go on.”
Trebek announced to viewers in March that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He promised to finish out his contract, which ends in 2022. He finished a round of chemotherapy and returned to the show in August to film season 36 of the show.
Trebek also said in October that he wasn’t afraid of dying.
“I’ve lived a good life, a full life, and I’m nearing the end of that life,” he said. “If it happens, why should I be afraid of that?”
