After teaming up with Lee for a multi-denim piece capsule, New York City-based Alife returns with a new five-piece collection. As part of the brand’s Alife Shop/Art Museum program, the new selection of apparel and accessories commemorate photojournalist Sam Shaw and one of his favorite subjects, Marilyn Monroe.
A lifelong New Yorker, Sam Shaw became internationally recognized for his celebrity portraits, documenting cultural icons such as Audrey Hepburn, Charlie Chaplin, Frank Sinatra and more. In the ’60s, he began a career in film; like his photographs, these films “embraced independence and encouraged spontaneity.” His six-decade career covered a wide array of interests, from music, theater and painting to social and political activism.
For its latest collection, Alife presents cozy hoodies in “Bone White” and “Heather Grey” printed with a photograph of Marilyn Monroe taken by Shaw in 1953. The iconic American actress, model and singer is captured in a stunning red dress against a similarly colored background, an unseen light source illuminating her face. A digital print of the photograph, along with “Alife Shop/Art Museum” branding, covers a classic white T-shirt and towel. A poster of the photograph will also be available to purchase.
Retailing from $20 to $148 USD, the collection will go live on Alife’s website, at in-store locations and at select retailers worldwide on November 14 at 10 a.m. EST.
