A tabloid claims Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively saved their marriage after nearly divorcing. The story isn’t remotely accurate. Gossip Cop can correct it.
According to OK!, the couple’s marriage experienced some serious hiccups earlier this year, but they’ve managed to salvage their relationship. An alleged insider tells the outlet, “Things got pretty rough there for a while. They were bickering constantly, and there was a point there when friends worried they could be on the brink of divorce.”
The supposed source continues, “It wasn’t easy, but they both made the decision to work on their relationship. And after careful introspection and reflection, they were able to make things right again.” As for what their so-called “problems” entailed, the tipster says Reynolds was “working a ton” while Lively was left “home alone caring for the kids,” which resulted in “lots of fights.”
The “insider” says Reynolds managed to make things right by sitting down with his wife for a “heart-to-heart” during which he “pledge to always put her and the kids first.” “The romance found its way back into their relationship,” says the seemingly phony source, adding that the birth of the couple’s third child over the summer officially saved their marriage.
The tabloid’s entire premise is baseless. For starters, Reynolds told People magazine in May that he and Lively never work at the same time so they can keep their family together. “We operate as a unit,” the actor explained. “The kids stay with us, and the family stays together, and that is where home is.” Reynolds further noted that whenever one of them needs to travel to work on a project, they go together and bring the children with them. Lively has never been left “home alone” to look after the kids while her husband works.
In reality, OK! is simply trying to backpedal after alleging in April that Reynolds and Lively were headed for a divorce over rumors he cheated on her with a twenty-something woman in Los Angeles. Those “rumors” were baseless and didn’t appear anywhere aside from the pages of the magazine. In addition to debunking that story, Gossip Cop also busted the tabloid in March 2018 for falsely claiming Reynolds and Lively were “living separate lives.”
In the time since we corrected those bogus articles, Reynolds and Lively welcomed a third child. The two also frequently post loving messages to one another on social media. Instead of acknowledging it got the story wrong, OK! is trying to save face by insisting the spouses “saved” their marriage. The relationship was never in need of saving. Perhaps the tabloid should just issue a retraction instead of printing more fiction in an effort to avoid embarrassment.
