A lawyer for two of Jeffrey Epstein’s accusers is suing embattled lawyer Alan Dershowitz — accusing him of inventing a fake extortion plot to “distract attention from his own misconduct,” according to court papers.
David Boies filed a defamation suit in Manhattan Supreme Court on Friday — just one day after Dershowitz made accusations against him and his clients in his own suit in federal court.
That legal move by the famed Harvard professor was a response to legal action taken against him by one of Boies’ clients, Epstein accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre.
Boies, who also represents accuser Sarah Ransome, called Dershowitz in court papers a “long-time friend and lawyer for convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein” who has been “personally accused under oath by two women of sexually abusing them when they were young,” the court papers say.
“In an effort to distract attention from his own misconduct, Defendant has engaged in a campaign to attack and vilify each of the lawyers who have represented his victims, one of which is Plaintiff,” the suit claims.
The document lists a number of times Dershowitz accused him of extortion and telling his clients to “intentionally lie about having sex” with him as part of Epstein’s sex ring.
“Defendant has essentially challenged Plaintiff to sue him for defamation,” the papers state.
“Plaintiff has concluded he now has no practical alternative but to do so.”
The papers say that in “more than half a century” in law, Boies has never before suffered such “sustained, false, accusations of criminal conduct,” damaging his otherwise-stellar reputation.
Boies is seeking damages in a trial, noting they will exceed $25,000.
Dershowitz told The Post Friday that he will “will fight back in the interest of truth” against the lawsuit.
“David Boies seems to forget that truth is a total defense to a defamation action,” he said. “I will prove the truthfulness of everything I’ve ever said about David Boies, and I look forward to cross-examining him under oath.”
He also claimed that his fellow lawyer was trying to bankrupt him because “he knows he can’t beat me in court, because I’m telling the truth.”
“This lawsuit is part of this strategy to use his enormous wealth and resources against me and against my first amendment right to tell the truth. I will not allow his resources to bully me,” he said.
Boies did not immediately return calls for comment.
