Grey’s Anatomy is back with a new episode on Thursday, and with it will bring the return of one doctor who’s been missing out on all the drama unfolding at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
In episode seven, titled “Papa Don’t Preach,” Dr. Catherine Fox (Debbie Allen) will finally return to town. She’s been absent since Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) fired Fox’s husband Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) and his insurance fraud conspirators, Dr. Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) and Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), and isn’t just in the dark on the goings-on at her hospital but some of Richard’s extra circular actives with his former AA buddy and Pacific Northwest General Hospital co-worker Gemma (Jasmine Guy).
As if that won’t be dramatic enough—especially if Richard comes clean about Gemma trying to kiss him—she’ll also have to deal with the fallout between doctors Maggie Webber (Kelly McCreary) and Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams), according to the episode’s synopsis. Meanwhile, Maggie, still reeling from her split with Jackson, may find out some family secrets of her own when some of Richard’s family members pop up at the hospital.
The episode will feature McCreary’s real-life sister, Crystal McCreary, as one of the character’s biological father’s relatives.
“Does that woman look like me,” Maggie asks in the episode trailer.
After taking a look at the woman, Jackson replies, “I don’t know. I’d have to see her snarl first.”
Secrets will be revealed in Dr. Amelia Shepard’s (Caterina Scorsone) world. The episode trailer offers a glimpse of Amelia contemplating telling her former boyfriend Dr. Owen Hunt about her pregnancy. Her concerns over telling him may not be in vain as the sneak peek clip flashes to a scene of Owen going off the rails when he learns Amelia is indeed having a baby with Dr. Atticus Lincoln, aka Link (Chris Carmack).
“You didn’t wanna have kids but now you’re with somebody else and you’re perfectly happy having a baby with another man!” Owen shouts.
Adding to the tension, the ex-lovers will find themselves working together on the operating table after they discover a woman they’re both treating may be lying about her injury.
The episode airs on ABC Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET. Viewers without access to television can live stream Grey’s Anatomy on ABC’s website or app, however, a cable provider login is needed to watch the stream. Those with Hulu Live TV service can catch the episode in real-time, while standard subscribers will be able to watch the show On-Demand after it airs.
