American band My Chemical Romance has just announced a reunion concert, performing their first show in seven years. The band originally announced its breakup back in 2013, and since then, lead singer Gerard Way had released his debut solo album Hesitant Alien in 2014, as well as a range of singles. His popular comic book The Umbrella Academy had also been adapted into a live-action series by Netflix, with season two confirmed to be on its way. His fellow band members also went on to accomplish various solo career feats. Guitarist Roy Toro toured with keyboardist James Dewess’ Reggie and the Full Effect, bassist Mikey Way formed his own group Electric Century, and guitarist Frank Iero released two solo albums.
Rumors of My Chemical Romance reuniting surfaced back in 2016 when the band posted a cryptic message on social media, which ultimately turned out to be a rerelease of The Black Parade for the album’s 10th anniversary. Now, the group is really coming back, with a show planned at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles on December 20. For fans interested, tickets will go on sale November 1, and can be purchased over at StubHub.
