Legendary makeup artist Pat McGrath is known within the beauty industry as “mother,” and for good reason.
The British superstar, 49, is considered the most influential makeup artist in the world — so much so that celebrities literally chase her down for her products.
On Wednesday, McGrath announced an expansion of her makeup empire into face products, including primer, foundation (36 shades’ worth) and powder that promise to “merge chemistry and artistry” and yield “legendary skin.”
However, we’ve already seen the perfecting products in real life. Celebrities including Cardi B, Kacey Musgraves, Billy Porter, Constance Wu and more all wore full faces of McGrath makeup to the 2019 Met Gala, including the then-unannounced Sublime Perfection set.
A Pat McGrath Labs team photographer even explained at the launch event that one star tried to steal the stuff.
“We started at 11 a.m. but I was like ‘Why are we doing that? The makeup won’t hold,’” he said, explaining how the tint looked even better as the day went on and the mystery celeb’s makeup was even better at the afterparties. “It looked like her skin but she was cooked. She was so, so happy and tried to attack me and take it.”
McGrath also used the new products backstage at the Louis Vuitton cruise fashion show, and on more than 300 models while in development.
