The 33-year-old Grammy winner’s arrival on Monday’s red carpet was nothing short of performance art, complete with four different looks designed by her longtime friend and collaborator Brandon Maxwell.
First, Gaga made her way up the museum steps clad in a hot pink cape dress complete with a matching hair bow and 25-foot train, the latter of which required a full entourage to handle. She then whipped off the look to reveal a strapless black gown with a bustle, which she wore while posing with a matching umbrella.
But the “Shallow” singer wasn’t done yet. Next up was a figure-hugging neon pink column gown that matched the cape she’d arrived in, which also came with its own props: an oversized cell phone and a pair of embellished, similarly giant sunglasses.
For the grand finale, Gaga stripped down to her skivvies, revealing a crystal-encrusted bra, underwear and fishnet tights teamed with a pair of her signature skyscraper-high platform boots.
Even Gaga’s beauty look for the night — extra-long, spiky eyelashes, screaming pink lipstick and a blond bob dotted with tiny hair bows seemingly plucked from her “Just Dance” days — was over-the-top.
All hail the queen of camp.
